How RFID Protection Works in a Wallet

Whether it’s a credit card or an ID card, both are equipped with a chip that communicates with a reader through an electromagnetic field.

RFID stands for Radio-frequency Identification, where radio waves automatically and wirelessly transmit your data. NFC (Near Field Communication) is a subset of this technology, working over short distances of up to 5 cm, whereas RFID can reach up to 1.5 meters. This wider range makes RFID more vulnerable to accidental data transmission.

Is each of your models an RFID wallet?

With the exception of the Nano Boy (the most compact of our wallets in the format of a bank card), all models of our leather wallets are equipped with RFID blockers.

Can I retrofit RFID protection?

Yes, it's easy to do. We have an RFID blocker card in our range. You simply add it to your other cards. This turns our Nano Boy and any other wallet into an RFID wallet.

Does the protective function also work when my RFID wallet is full?

The RFID protection in the wallet reliably covers all cards in the wallet.

Which Jaimie Jacobs models are available as RFID protection wallets?

All our leather wallets are RFID protected wallets. You have the choice between different wallets, such as the Slimstar, Folder Boy, Magstar Slim Wallet, Flap Boy, Flap Boy Slim, Flapstar - many of which are also available as Apple AirTag Edition.

Which cards need RFID protection?

All cards with the RFID symbol. These are e.g. credit cards, EC cards, new ID cards. Access cards to company buildings, hotel rooms or fitness studios, on the other hand, do not work with RFID and therefore do not require RFID protection.

What does RFID protection mean for wallets?

This means that all cards in the wallet or card case are protected from being read by RFID devices.

How can I check whether the RFID protection is working?

You can check this by trying to pay in the supermarket with an RFID credit or debit card while the card is in your wallet.
